    Did you try “anarcho capitalist”?

    What about “libertarian”?

I posted that message with tongue firmly in cheek. But yeah, I tried many permutations with no luck. That being said, I did also try words such as “communist” and “socialist” to test the other end of the spectrum and they came up short as well (more than zero, but not much).

Ah well – back to the crapshoot that is trying to meet sane people in real life.

I started using OK Cupid again because I haven’t dated anyone for awhile. I’ve mainly been looking for libertarians as well. I have some male friends who are very outspoken about being libertarian yet make no mention of it at all on their online dating profiles. Most “normal” people are not receptive to it. I mentioned it on my profile and I got a message from a guy saying that he is also a libertarian, but doesn’t mention it. Libertarians, stop being so ashamed!

I go back and forth on declaring it on my dating page. The problem with online dating is that unlike a real world interaction, you can’t tailor your presentation for a specific person in a specific moment. If I met a girl at some kind of libertarian thing, of course I’d want her to know. If I met her at a cafe, well, I have a feeling political theory is usually not first on the list of things that draw women in. I see placing my political theory beliefs on my dating profile as being similar to my religious beliefs; it could really interest someone or really turn someone off. Sometimes, you just want to engage on the level or personalities, hobbies, or other side topics, and after you’ve built some capital reveal the more divisive things about who you are.

I do have a little bit of a hint on my OKC page:

BOOKS: Austrian economics, libertarian political theory, history and happy theology. I also like science fiction and fantasy, so I’m not a complete bore =] .

This seems like a pretty good philosophy. But when people are up front about their beliefs on their profile, it’s much easier to filter, so you don’t have to waste your time.

So when you read ‘Books and book culture seem pretty pretentious to me’ on someone’s profle (I really did see this) you can just click NEXT and be done with it hahahah

Oh I was just going to attempt convert the lady once I got to know her 😉 . I’m picky enough as it is, I think waiting for a balls-to-the-wall Rothbardian to come along would not be efficient.

OKCupid ain’t too bad, met my last two exes on there. Unfortunately, L.me doesn’t have a local option via smartphone that shows nearby L.me members within proximity of your location like OKCupid (and many others I’m sure). Could it be a future feature?

So in the meantime: any other L.me singles in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area? 🙂

I definitely recommend converting your own. I was already married when I became a libertarian, and I drug my wife with me (kicking and screaming at times).

It kinda sucks because it narrows one’s options so much, but that’s the way it goes, I guess.

I was told by a socialist that libertarianism is too hardline of a position and too idealistic. I promptly checked my privilege.

Haha, said the person whose belief system is utopian by nature! Whenever libertarians get attacked for being utopian, it’s always good to remind the other party that they are the ones putting their faith in, of all things, a bureaucratic monopoly!

My mum is ever so persistent with her dating suggestions, that I proposed that I start up libertarianmatch.com 😀

Though I believe it is important to respect one’s partner and his/her beliefs after consideration, even if opposing, I can’t see myself dating someone who doesn’t recognize the NAP and the immorality of coercing others with government.

Joined OKCupid. The match system is broken. It keeps matching me up with the most vicious socialist SJWs you can imagine D:

Well, I’m not. I still espouse everything I believe, I just don’t prologue every conversation with “Full disclosure, I’m a libertarian”. Leading a conversation like this will automatically frame our conversation in a certain light to my receiver rather than having an open-ended dialogue with them. If I tell them I’m a certain label first, then I’ll be judged based on their preconception attached to that label rather than being judged by following the logical end of our discussion. I don’t post it on websites because there are no libertarian females around me and those are the only people that will be excited to see the word libertarian. Libertarianism is a sausagefest.

    Capitalist Thought

Finding a women who isn’t a Liberal is impossible for me. Seems to me that the vast majority of women don’t follow politics at all but have strong emotional opinions on the matter. I dated a Feminist for 2 years and it was the only reason we really got into fights because I’m an Alpha Male and she was always wrong while being hypocritical to her own values and beliefs.

I had a few interesting chats with a young woman in her 20’s recently. She was clearly bright but had been so indocrinated by modern feminist professors/peers that it was impossible to have a conversation with her about ideas without her feeling as though I were attacking her. I’m afraid there are a lot of these ‘educated’ women out there. I think it’s important to be with someone who holds the same key beliefs as you do. I remember back in my 20’s getting advice from a libertarian couple who said to a me “make sure to marry a libertarian”. Being impatient, I didn’t follow their advice. This is a cautionary tale for all of you youngins 🙂
